Do You Have Questions About Deliverance Ministry?

I’ve been involved in deliverance ministry for over twenty-one years. It’s not the main thing that I do in my life, though my focus on the subject has increased since I started the Experiencing His Victory website. Now, I’m talking about healing and deliverance on a weekly basis.

The good news is that deliverance was and is a major part of the ministry of Jesus. He came to set people free from the power of the enemy. He exercised the power of the Holy Spirit to bind the strongman and plunder his house.

Jesus ministry included teaching in synagogues, proclaiming the kingdom of God, healing the brokenhearted, healing every sickness and disease, casting out demons, and whatever else He saw the Father doing.

Jesus’ ministry was well rounded and covered every aspect of life. He was interested in the spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, relational, and vocational aspects of those to whom He ministered.

I’ve spent years studying and ministering deliverance and can definitely say that I don’t have all the answers when it comes to the area of healing and deliverance, but I know a whole lot more than I used to.

I am constantly researching and seeking to grow in my knowledge of the Biblical way to bring the life of Jesus to those who are bound and hurting. Just last week I read another book on the topic. I will be a never-ending student of the word of God.

Deliverance Gets a Bad Rap

When a person brings up the topic of deliverance people are rarely silent on the matter. Some are absolutely opposed to it, others are afraid of it, and still others understand the need for it and that it is spoken of in the Bible.

There is so much misinformation surrounding the ministry of deliverance. I’m sure most everyone you know has a story they heard of some crazy things that took place in the name of Jesus. Some take their cue from Hollywood and picture a head spinning around and vomit flying across the room like in the movie The Exorcist.

I believe the enemy loves these things because it causes people to reject the very thing that forces him to leave the life of the one he is afflicting. It is a great plan to get people to ridicule deliverance or reject it outright. Then there is no possible way that he will be commanded to leave.

If we believe in the word of God, there can be no doubt that Jesus and the Early Church were active in the ministry of deliverance. It was not their main focus, preaching the word was the key thing they did. But it was not something that was done in a dark room away from the crowds.

It was the ministry of healing and deliverance that drew crowds to the ministry of Philip. In Acts chapter eight we read:

The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which he was performing. For in the case of many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. (vs 6-7)

It sounds like things got a little crazy by our standards, but it was the power of God being manifest that caused the city to rejoice. Many became believers because they heard and saw the signs Philip was doing.

We could go to dozens of more Scriptures talking about this topic, but this one will do for right now. Deliverance was part of the ministry of the church in the first century and it remains in effect today.

Ignorance is Not Bliss

A large portion of the church in America is ignorant about the ministry of deliverance. Deliverance ministry is seen as a thing of the past or part a fanatical fringe of Christianity. It is not seen as a commonplace activity of the church to bring the power of the kingdom of God to the earth.

Due to the church’s ignorance, many people are wounded and afflicted by demonic beings bent on their destruction. They are a part of the kingdom of darkness which Jesus overcame on the cross and gives us the authority to stand against all the works of the devil and send him fleeing for our lives.

One of the main reasons for starting the Experiencing His Victory website is to bring the biblical teaching on deliverance before the church so people can begin to experience the victory Christ won on the cross.

The name Experiencing His Victory has a deep meaning and it took me a long time to come up with the name. As I sought the Lord as to how to begin the site and the things to teach, it began to take shape little by little.

Here is the reason for the name Experiencing His Victory.

Experiencing

Experiencing: For some time I was going to use the word experience instead of experiencing. It doesn’t seem like a big difference, but there is.

The word experience could speak of a one-time encounter with God. As believers, we are to experience God’s work in our lives on a daily basis. Experiencing is an active word that speaks of our continuously experiencing what God has for us. His work in our lives is an ongoing, daily work of grace.

His

His: It’s important the focus is on Jesus. Yes, we are daily experiencing His victory, but it is His victory. We’re not trying to live the Christian walk by our own efforts or strength. We’re fully depending on the work and the power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in our lives.

A believer cannot live the Christian life apart from the power and the grace of God. We must be filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This is only available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Paul said it so eloquently in Galatians 2:20:

I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Victory

Victory: Jesus won a victory over all the forces of evil on the cross and broke the power of sin and death through His resurrection. He has won the victory and it is only available through Him.

As believers, we can experience the abundant life that Jesus promised to give. His words are not just for heaven, they are for our life on the earth. He taught us to pray for God’s kingdom and will to be done on earth as they are in heaven.

Jesus came to establish His kingdom on this earth until He returns to set all things right. His church is His body continuing the mission and ministry that He began two thousand years ago.

We’re to proclaim His victory and experience it in our lives on a daily basis. All that Jesus did during His time on the earth is available to us today.

Part of the mission of the Experiencing His Victory website is to help people experience life as God intends it to be. If you are a regular on this site, you know that our main tagline is Pursuing Life as God Intends it to Be.

Do You Have Questions About Deliverance?

On May 1st I’ll be launching the Experiencing His Victory Academy. It’s a place for people to gather together to learn about healing and deliverance and encourage one another to grow in Christ.

Monthly Live Facebook Training

One of the major aspects of the Premium Membership will be Monthly Facebook Live training on areas of healing and deliverance. Each month I’ll announce the date and time of the teaching and we will gather on Facebook to teach on a major topic of healing and deliverance and answer questions on that topic live after the teaching.

Monthly Live Q&A Sessions

There will also be a monthly Facebook Live Q&A Session to answer questions that you might have concerning the area of healing and deliverance. I’ll come prepared with questions that come up in the Private Facebook Group and answer questions live during the time we’ll have together.

These two sessions are only available on the Premium Membership Level. Those who choose the Self-Study Membership will have access to the recordings of these sessions. Those in the Free Membership will be able to ask questions in the Private Facebook group but should not expect any in-depth answers available through the other memberships.
